WE
ARE
IDAHO
I am fighting for an Idaho that works for all of us— protecting our schools, our public lands, and our hard-working families.
Senator James Ruchti for Idaho District 29
I have been married to my wife, Wendy, since 1993. We spent the first few years of our marriage in Germany while I served in the military. When I was not out in the field or deployed, we traveled all over Europe in our Nissan Pulsar, which was definitely not a family-friendly car, with our brand-new baby, Spencer, along for the ride in his car seat.
After we returned to the United States, we welcomed our second son, Drew, and our family was complete.
When my military service ended, Wendy and I went back to school at the University of Idaho. I earned my law degree there, and Wendy earned her Ph.D. in education. She has taught in public schools, served as a school coach for a national education nonprofit, and now teaches as a professor in the College of Education at Idaho State University.
When Spencer and Drew were growing up, they had a rock band called Seven Feet Below. Wendy and I were their groupies and stage crew, which may have been the best jobs we ever had, even if they were also the worst-paying. Spencer and Drew are now both college graduates and are off doing great things in life.
Now that Wendy and I are empty-nesters, we enjoy doing CrossFit and spending time in the great outdoors, at least when we are not counting down the days until our next adventure with our boys.

That is who I am.”
